Christmas is almost here. Are you ready?
Better than flashy, expensive gifts, I love thoughtful ones. The adorable scarf I received from Josh spoke volumes. He noticed that I loved it and secretly went back to the store and bought it. The huge wooden buttons I’d been waiting to go on sale ended up as a present from my mother-in-law. I couldn’t believe it! 🙂
But better than thoughtful gifts, I love time spent with my extended family. We already had our get-together with Josh’s side. What can beat playing games as couples (Masterpiece and the Wii) and enjoying each other’s company? I’m SO looking forward to the Roth gathering as well.
But better than time spent with my family, I love the extra time I have with Josh. We spent one wonderful evening together recently, free from school work or housework. We went out for dinner (yes! we do manage to eat at a nice restaurant once in a while), we gave gifts, we read The Gift of the Magi (which Josh had never read), and enjoyed each other’s company. It’s fun to intentionally begin small traditions in our own little family.
But better than time spent with Josh, I love reading the simple (yet profound) Christmas story. Take away the decorations, the presents, the family gatherings, even the extra time spent with dear loved ones, and Christmas has NOT disappeared nor lost its appeal. The story cannot be erased and forgotten….for God has come to earth as a baby, to bring salvation to all who repent. But not only has He come, He has also promised to come again, but this time as our King and Judge!
Are you ready for Christmas? Are you ready for His second coming?
