What would make me get up at 6:00 IN THE MORNING on a Saturday? Nothing but a fun outing with my hubby.
This past Saturday Josh and I visited a Water Treatment Facility at sunrise. I slept through most of the 45 minute drive but awoke to stunning beauty when we arrived.
Can you guess what we were doing there at this unearthly hour? Birding. Yup! Bird book in hand, we eagerly scanned the flocks of water fowl. Within an hour, we spotted eight new species of birds that we’ve never seen before. My pictures of the birds didn’t turn out that great, but it was fascinating to figure out the bird’s features and spot it in our birding book. Suddenly, a duck wasn’t just a duck.
Me: It has a black beak that’s long.
Josh: See the golden eye when the sun hits it?
Me: Wait, this one is completely black except for the tail!
Josh: Notice that those ducks are a lot smaller?
After about an hour and a half, we headed back home, satisfied.

Wow! You two are ambitious. Even with my prodigious imagination, I can’t imagine dragging a sleepy Wouter out of bed at 6:00am on a Saturday to go…birding!! Beautiful pics!
It’s Josh that dragged me along, haha. It was a lot of fun, but I couldn’t go birding for more than an hour or two. I’m not THAT serious yet.
Oh Ange, I just have to laugh! You two are always up to adventures of any sort!

Well, Jo, the reason you can’t imagine dragging Wouter is because he wouldn’t go I’m guessing…. Mike wouldn’t go either! Anyway, glad you had fun, Ange! You guys crack me up!
Sounds very cool, but that early in the a.m.? I don’t think so. I think the only time I saw sunrises was when I worked night shifts. But I do love watching birds. We have a bunch of feeders and lots of activity. Annika loves it too.
